Mélusine Mallender

"I have always been both intrigued and fascinated by the world. Today I want to give myself the means to understand it better"

While studying costume design for the theatre and cinema she has developed a passion for history and the expression by men of their adaptation to their geographical habitat, whether though their myths and legends or through their costume. This passion brought her to take part in several humanitarian missions both in Africa and Asia and do several travels around the world in solo. It also brought her to study geography at university level. A great lover of the sea since childhood she is a qualified sailor and diving instructor. This passion allied to history naturally brought her to get interested in great explorers such as Magellan. Hielo Continental 2009 will be his first real expedition... somthing she's waiting for since a long time.
Main expeditions :

Costa Rica: Pacific Coast of Costa Rica on Kayak.

Vietnam – Cambodia: Meeting the Mong and crossing the mountains (2 months)

Indonesia: Islands of the East, crossing on foot and study of underwater environments (4 months)

Togo : Voluntary works for two mounth in the South

The sea. Mélusine's love for the sea is a deep long lasting story going back to her early childhood spent in the Landes, on the most beautiful beaches of France ("of the world" if we are to quote her). She is a qualified sailor and diving instructor. After sailing, sea kayaking was the obvious step to exploring coasts more thoroughly. Patagonia is not the only reason that has made her join the expedition. Her strong desire to dive under glacial crusts could also open the way to unknown territories....
